The two largest international fairs for Home Exporters have fallen prey to Coronavirus.
Heimtextil 2021 and Ambiente 2021 will NOT be held on their scheduled dates for the season. Despite being on track for their regular January/February showcases in Frankfurt even as other exhibitions were being cancelled across the globe, Messe Frankfurt & fair authorities were forced to make the decision in view of COVID.
Heimtextil will open now its doors from 4 to 7 May 2021. The event will share fairgrounds with Techtextil (trade fair for technical textiles and nonwovens), and Texprocess (trade fair for processing textile and flexible materials).
Ambiente will be precede Heimtextil for the first time, showcasing from 17 to 20 April 2021 alongside Christmasworld and Paperworld. The three fairs would be combined under one name - International Consumer Goods Show – Special Edition, and aim to attract new buyers for the exhibitors with the crossover.
Between the second wave of infections gripping Europe and the logistical challenges of bringing exhibitors and visitors to Germany, it felt a safer bet to push the fairs for an unusual summer opening and hope the pandemic slows down by then.
TEXILIST THINKS :
Considering the plus point offered by Heimtextil and Ambiente is to be the first event of the year that set trends for the upcoming year, it is unlikely that the dates would be changed again. The authorities are likely going to plan to keep the fairs on their original schedule for 2022 (Jan & Feb) and these new summer dates cannot go to close to the next edition. So if the pandemic extends into Summer 2021, we will likely see the cancellation of the 2021 editions.
